Coming in right on time for the next event along with the new website is the latest version of the player’s guide!
This one actually has some hefty changes, BUT they are mostly at the top end – new characters (most of the game) won’t have a lot to worry about, but this does mean that crafters have a lot more utility and it’s easier to hit the top end as a magician.
The list of changes:
September 2008: Major update
- Added Circadians as a core human culture.
- Added sample characters from each human culture.
- Added explicit hints about abilities available with high levels of skills.
- Altered skill system. Production skills now have five levels instead of ten.
- Courtier skill: Now allows you to view someone else’s Influence cards.
- Etiquette skill: Now allows banking of Influence cards.
- Added Professions: Baker, Candlestick Maker, Papermaker, Privateer, Vintner.
- Search skill: Fixed time to use.
- Stealth skill: Became an unleveled skill. Now uses a Stealth kerchief as an indicator. No limit to walk distance.
- Production skills no longer have limits on use during play; instead, they require only the appropriate materials for item creation.
- Reduced price for high-level mana.
- Alchemy list changed to indicate new levels. Stabilize concoction removed. Added Antidote, Heal Minor Wounds, and Paranoia concoctions.
- Armorsmith list changed to indicate new levels.
- Artifice list changed to indicate new levels.
- Herbalism list now includes likely places to find herbs.
- Jewelcraft list changed to indicate new levels.
- Mining list changed to indicate new levels.
- Weaponsmith list changed to indicate new levels.
- Second Wind effect now explicitly grants one-time power use reprieve from fatigue when used on someone with a lasting fatigue condition (such as disease).
- Added Influence, Land, and Warfare chapter.
If you are playing an alchemist, you may change your formulas known tin accordance with the new formulas available at the low levels (see Chapter Seven). Just drop me an email. Keep in mind that you are no longer limited to any specific amount of production at a game, but you MUST have the appropriate required materials. This includes alchemy now, so get out there and get those herbs!
